I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

- Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

WEDNESDAYS FROM 10AM TILL 11:30AM!

GOING ON NOW! COME AND PLAY!

COMMUNITY

WHO IS PLAY-TO-LEARN FOR?

Are you a homeschool mom or dad with children of elementary school age and younger? Are you looking for a bit of extra support in your homeschool journey, by meeting and hanging out with other like-minded parents? Would you like your children to meet and play with other homeschooled children? This group is absolutely for you!

Are you a non-homeschool mom or dad of very little ones (babies & toddlers)? Do you need to just get out of the house for a bit with your child(ren)? Are you looking for a place you can go to meet other parents in the same season of life, while your children play together? This group is for you, too!

Our playgroup highly values and encourages intentional community. We want this playgroup to be a community full of laughter and joy, warmth and goodwill, as we parents endeavor to raise our children to have a life-long thirst for the thrill of learning, in a way that glorifies God.

WHAT DO WE DO?

For children ages 4 and up, much of the emphasis will be on structured play. "Structured play" simply means goal-oriented play, in which a child follows instructions or rules. Some examples of structured play are board games, card games, organized sports, etc.

We are BIG on playing games at Play-To-Learn! We have quite a bit of educational games on hand for different ages/developmental stages (i.e., phonics games, word games, math games, logic games, STEM games, sorting games, etc.), as well as jigsaw puzzles, card games (think Go Fish and Uno), charades for kids, and more!

WHAT ELSE DO WE DO?

We also have opportunities for unstructured play!

"Unstructured Play" is improvised and open-ended, with no set goals and no specific learning objective. Unlike structured play, unstructured play is not instructor-led, so parents do not need to give directions. Unstructured play is what most children do naturally, at home...or anywhere they possibly can! Examples include building with blocks or Legos, playing with toy cars, playing dress-up or make believe, playing at a playground, exploring new places/spaces, etc.

We have lots of building blocks and toy cars on hand for younger children, as well as other building toys for older children.

Please note that, for the safety of all our precious children, we want to avoid rowdiness and running. (Whether we're doing structured or unstructured play, there will always be a need for a bit of structure and rules in order to keep the group from spinning out of orbit and careening into chaos.)

THERE'S ALSO ROOM FOR...

Creative outlet! We value art and music very highly. Drawing is always encouraged in our group, so there will always be drawing paper, pencils and colored pencils readily available. We'll also have wonderful music (usually jazz) playing in the background throughout our time.

CREATIVE OUTLET

WEDNESDAYS FROM 10AM TILL 11:30AM!

GOING ON NOW! COME AND PLAY!

THE FORMAT:

1. Meet & Greet

Simply put, we meet and greet each other as parents and children trickle in.

2. Let's Play!

Depending upon how many children there are on any given day, we may have several different "stations" happening simultaneously (such as a drawing station, a logic game station, and a building blocks station), or just one or two stations at a time if there are fewer children.

3. Let's Clean Up!

At around 11:15am, the last 10-15 minutes of our time will be for cleaning up all games, toys, and any other messes. Everyone gets to pitch in and help clean up!

4. Closing Prayer

Just before we all depart, the facilitator (or a volunteer parent or child!) will say a quick closing prayer over all our families.
