Family Time During Lent
Lent began this past Wednesday, which was Ash Wednesday. We are now in the season of 40 days (46 including Sundays) leading up to Easter. It is a time for us to pull back a bit from the busyness of life, to fast, pray, and give. What a wonderful time to create special family bonding as we slow down and sacrifice – or fast from – certain things. This is to represent Jesus Christ’s sacrifice when he went into the desert to pray and fast for the 40 days before later dying on the cross.
Make it special for your family. We hope that your family will participate in Lent in very meaningful ways. If you have not yet had a chance to download one (or both) of our Family Lent guides, I encourage you to do so today.

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Acts 2:21
Lord,
Teach me a new freedom.
Freedom to reject comparison
And to embrace uniqueness.
Freedom to cut ties with greed
And feast on love.
Freedom to abstain from over indulgence
And feast on self-control.
Freedom to leave behind selfish thoughts
And to focus on the needs of others.
Freedom to fend off insecurity
And to embrace grace.
Lord, at this time of Lent, Thank you for the freedom you bring.
Amen.
